Brussels Guardians have been crowned champions of the Razer CS:GO Challenge after defeating LowLandLions 2-1 in the grand final. A total of eight teams from the Benelux gathered this weekend in Brussels to contest the Razer CS:GO Challenge trophy, which took place inside the Made In Asia convention. With over €1,000 in cash and hardware prizes, there was no shortage of talent in the tournament, with the usual suspects of Brussels Guardians and LowLanLions being heavily favoured for the title. The Dutch side were, however, unable to field their usual lineup, as Kaj "kajsk1ng" van Staalduinen could not attend the event, being replaced by former 1.6 talent Eric "slaYn" Peeters.
In the semi-final match against Granted, LowLandLions had pulled off an impressive comeback, going from 14-4 down to 16-14 to seal a place in the final. Still, many wondered whether the Frag-o-Matic champions would be able to beat Brussels Guardians, who had eased past Granted 16-2 in the group stage, with that level of play. In the grand final, LowLandLions got off the brighter, winning de_nuke_se 16-9, but then allowed Brussels Guardians to turn the tie around with victories on de_mirage_csgo (16-14) and de_dust2_se (16-13).
